NCN and NAWA calls for applications have started

The possibility of conducting research under the programmes of the NCN and support for international mobility of doctoral students under the NAWA. Researchers with different experience from Polish scientific centres will be able to carry out their projects. On 15 March, OPUS 23 and PRELUDIUM 21 competitions were launched, and on 17 March the call for applications to the Mieczysław Bekker Scholarship Programme was opened.

OPUS – for young and experienced researchers

OPUS 23 is a competition aimed at researchers at all stages of their career, including pre-doctoral candidates.

Project managers may be researchers who have at least one published or accepted for publication work or one artistic or artistic-scientific achievement in the case of scientific activity in the field of creativity and arts. Research carried out within the projects may involve, inter alia, senior researchers, doctoral students and post-docs.

The competition is open to projects with or without the participation of foreign partners.

The call enables the financing of the purchase or manufacturing of scientific and research apparatus, equipment and software, as well as the implementation of research using large international research facilities. Project duration may be 12, 24, 36 or 48 months. There is no upper limit of funding for a single project, and the budget of the entire OPUS 23 competition is PLN 400 million.

PRELUDIUM – for budding scientists

PRELUDIUM 21 is a competition intended for scientists who do not have a doctoral degree. Its aim is to support people starting their scientific careers and enable them to purchase or manufacture specialist apparatus, devices and software, the cost of which does not exceed 30% of the project value.

The research team in a project may consist of at most three persons, including the project leader and supervisor.

The competition offers funding for projects lasting 12, 24 or 36 months of respectively: PLN 70,000, PLN 140,000 or PLN 210,000, and the entire budget of the PRELUDIUM 21 competition is PLN 30 million.

Bekker NAWAMieczysław Bekker Programme

The Programme is open to doctoral students and scientists representing all fields and disciplines of science as well as artistic disciplines. There are also no restrictions regarding countries where the Host Institutions are located.

Research fellowships (3 to 24 months) shall allow scientists to stay in recognized research centres and to implement the Projects together with eminent foreign scientists and scientific teams as well as establish long-term relationship with foreign scientific teams. For young scientists, the Bekker Programme will be also an opportunity for postdoctoral fellowships while for doctoral students it can be the part of their education.

The Programme provides funding to cover scholarship holder's living expenses related to the stay in the foreign Host Center and the mobility allowance as well. The amount of the funding may be increased if the grantee's spouse and his underage children participate in the trip. It also applies to assistant of a scholarship holder with a severe or moderate disability.
