The Baltic University Program (BUP) PhD Award is a distinction that supports high-quality research promoting sustainable development in the Baltic Sea region. The award is given in two research areas:
- Natural Sciences, Technology and Engineering
- Social sciences and humanities
The BUP PhD Award is given to the authors of the most valuable doctoral theses defended at any of the universities participating in BUP. Any author affiliated with a BUP participating university who has defended a doctoral thesis within the past year may be nominated.
The winners will receive a prize in the form of a diploma and support up to a maximum of 1000€ for either attending a scientific conference or publishing in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

The deadline for applications is 25 May 2025.
The selection process is the responsibility of the scientific committee, which will evaluate the papers for originality, interdisciplinary / multidisciplinary approach, novelty, innovation and promoting sustainable development in a Baltic Sea region context.
The winners will be announced in the autumn.
